Grandma Dohn’s Bulletin Board (3)

Today the focus is on young people. Grandma had plenty of young people in her life. I have two younger brothers and six cousins. As a child I remember going to Grandma & Pop’s house for dinner on Sunday and then watching Disney. What an absolute treat. As my generation grew up the great grandchildren began to appear. My daughters Emily and Jody were the first two great grandchildren. I remember my Great Grandpa Dohn and I was thrilled that my daughters got to know and love and have their own relationships with their great grandparents. Following is a Prayer for Young People that was yet another old piece of brittle paper pinned to Grandma Dohn’s bulletin board. I so wish I knew what she was thinking and why these specific poems and little bits were so important to her. Peace, Love and Knitting, Amy

Prayer For Young People

We pray for the young people of our immediate and extended families. We admire their joy of life and their spirit of adventure. As they go through the sometimes painful process of moving from dependent to independent adulthood, we commend them to your gracious care.

Be their teacher as they learn how to live. Be their guide as they make daily choices. Be their protector as they face many dangers. Be their comforter as they handle disappointments and tensions. Be their counselor as they choose companions and friends. Be their Savior as they make great spiritual decisions.
