Camp Grandma – Day Three

Day three proved to be a fairly low key day-exciting nonetheless!

The trip to the grocery on day two fell short. The director forgot to include supplies for making pizza on the list so there was another trip to the grocery needed this morning. Which-turned out to be an awesome thing because at the grocery on day two the campers spotted a Pokemon vending machine! They arrived with wallets in hand this morning.

The campers made a list of what they needed to make pizza and the director searched the grocery site and called out what aisle each item was in so the campers could add that information to the grocery list for a quicker trip. Off to the grocery it was. The majority of the items were in aisle three so the campers suggested that we start there. (The camp director suggested we start at Starbucks. Unfortunately, the espresso machine at Starbucks was down and the only thing we ended up getting were cake pops.) Pizza crust and pizza sauce, check and check. Next was cheese in aisle 30. Off they went. The director followed. Cheese, check. Next was pepperoni…in aisle 17-ugh! Pepperoni was checked off the list and a lesson was learned about checking all the aisles involved and possibly doing them in order next time. We checked out and then it was time to go to the Pokemon vending machine.

There was only one item in the machine with any stock left so each camper followed the directions on the screen until it was time to pay…with a credit card…Camp director to the rescue. After we got home we learned about paying someone back when they buy you something and we learned about different coins and their values.

We had all the supplies and the campers were hungry. They wanted ice cream first but the director held out and “forced” them to make their own pizza for lunch. Pizzas were made and baked and scarfed down. Then it was time for ice cream. After trying the fancy dessert machine three times, the director decided that it needed further attention and the campers ate their ice cream without it being mixed up in a fancy machine. It was still delicious and they had plenty to take home.

After three days straight, the campers have a day off with dad tomorrow and one of them has a piano lesson tomorrow afternoon. They will be back at camp on Friday morning. The adventure for the day is going to the movies.

See you after camp on Friday.
