Seven days! Wow! Camp Grandma spring 2026 is in the books! The director is exhausted but it’s a joyful exhaustion. To summarize: Camp started on March 30th. Usually, mom is off on Wednesday and dad is off on Thursday but mom, being the boss, had two employees off and had to work on her day off so the kids were at camp Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday (the kids are at grandma’s house the first Saturday of each month) Sunday evening and night and Monday April 6th.
Monday we went to Young’s Jersey Dairy, Tuesday we decorated the driveway with chalk and went to the grocery with a list of items and what aisle they were in. Wednesday we had a second grocery trip and then made pizza and ice cream, Friday the younger camper and the director went to a movie while the older camper went to Columbus, Ohio to see Other World with his aunt to celebrate his March birthday, Saturday we went to Triple Moon Coffee shop in Middletown where we ran into some old friends of the director’s and then to a park with monkey bars, Sunday was a hotel with a pool.
The kids were up around eight in the morning and we went to breakfast in the hotel lobby. Hash browns, sausage, cheese omelettes, biscuits and gravy, cereal, chocolate milk and a pancake making machine that was a conveyor belt. The kids were thrilled with the breakfast spread and ate their fill. The director was checking about the Experience center and discovered that the museum is closed on Mondays. This turned out to be okay because the campers were DONE. Done with each other, done with the director, done with camp grandma. They were tired and ready to go home.
Luckily home was just ten minutes away and they didn’t fight too much in the car. We got to the camper’s house and they played together for a short while then they went their separate ways and watched some TV and played some games. I’m proud to say that the older camper spent time looking up piano music online and then practicing learning theme songs to some of his favorite video games.
Mom and dad arrived home after work and this director (A.K.A. tired Grandma) went home to relax.
Until next Camp Grandma…Peace
